Henrietta Hodge (Screen Actress and Brighton University Graduate)
Going to Peter’s masterclasses has confirmed for me that acting is the career I want to do for the rest of my life, and to be honest, I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for Peter and his constant support.
I first went a year and a half ago. As an acting student, at that time in my life I was only trained for theatre, but I really wanted to try screen acting and I struggled to find someone who would go out of their way to push me as far as possible.
The masterclasses cover an extensive range of scenes from various movies and genres; we’ve had masterclass training with firearms and weapons which is something I really love to work with now (I even flew home from England a couple of times just so I could get stuck in).
Being introduced to such a variety of scenes and approaches to acting is something that has also really helped me through my final year of university in Brighton. One style of acting that we explored with Peter that has really pushed and expanded my skill-set is British and American comedy acting. Before doing several masterclasses on comedy I would never have considered it as an option. In uni I lacked confidence to act and record a short comedic film on my own as I was afraid I wouldn't be good enough. I then flew home to Northern Ireland for a masterclass where I had a great chat with Peter; he gave me confidence to believe in myself more and to accept that it's ok to make mistakes and be nervous as this industry can be very daunting, but how I move forward from this is the important bit. In the end I did record a short comedic film on my own at uni which turned out successful; I do have to thank Peter for believing in me to do that because my confidence has grown significantly and I know that I am now a more diverse actress as a result of this.
Last but not least, one of the things I love about the masterclasses is that Peter is very honest with me and very genuine with his enthusiasm to help me. I also love that the masterclasses aren't sugar-coated; Peter has made me more aware of how life in this industry won't always be glamorous and has helped me prepare for the struggles I may face along the way. Including how to deal with nerves at an audition! Now that I have finished university, I am delighted to have Peter as my agent and I am so excited to see what will happen next in my career.
